In Sanskrit there is a word «lila» (lee-la), which roughly translates to «play». One of the many wonderful things about yoga is that it provides endless opportunities to incorporate the spirit of play into a practice that is simultaneously disciplined and focused. Play is an incredibly transformative and healing state, as it invites us to reconnect with our inner children, allowing life to unfold spontaneously, while fully immersing ourselves in the creation of the present moment.
Join Tabitha Hall as she shares her deep love of play and passion for arm balances, in an afternoon of experimentation and invigoration. Invite a sense of joy, empowerment, and celebration, and learn to create new shapes as we explore many exciting variations of arm balancing postures.
This class is not recommended for those who are brand new to yoga, but is open to all levels of yogis who have basic knowledge of the postures-even if you have little/no experience with arm balancing. If you are interested in incorporating arm balancing into your practice, but aren’t sure where to begin, this is the perfect class for you, as there will be lots of individual attention, in a more relaxed atmosphere which will enable you to ask questions and receive one-on-one assistance to ensure safe body alignment. For those who are already comfortable with arm balances, this will be a place to play and learn new transitions and funkier variations. In addition to taking time to break down each arm balance, we will move through a complete flow focused on strengthening and building awareness of the physical form. Bring an open heart, and give yourself permission to play, laugh, fall, and get back up!
Tabitha Hall (ECYT, LMBT, Reiki Master/Teacher) is known for her vinyasa classes which are challenging, yet playful, incorporating creative and thoughtful sequencing into an atmosphere of powerful and lighthearted energy. She has a passion for pushing the boundaries of what she perceives to be possible, and in her own practice this manifests as a deep love for arm balances and inversions. She finds that practicing these postures allows a synergy between childlike play and adult dedication and discipline, which promotes immeasurable healing in her life, and is an experience she hopes to facilitate for each of her beloved students.
