The X-Ecutioners formed as a DJ crew in 1989[1] that originally included 11 members. The group's original name was the X-Men, which was chosen partly because of their rivalry between DJ Clark Kent's crew of DJs, known as the Supermen, and after the Marvel Comics superhero team. They later changed their name for trademark reasons.

After the group's name changed, the crew was later reduced to members Rob Swift, Roc Raida, Total Eclipse, and Mista Sinista (named after the X-Men villain Mister Sinister) before releasing their debut studio album, X-Pressions in 1997.

Catch Rob Swift and Sinister on one of their few North American dates this year.

Open the night with one of Asheville's hottest hip hop Crew FTO.

Free The Optimus is an Asheville, North Carolina based hip hop collective focused on bringing improvisational lyricism to jazz influenced boom bap soundscapes. Founded in 2008 by Chris Shreve in the mountains of western NC, FTO serves as “a call to action—to set free our optimal ability & our optimistic perspective, and to transform the world around us.”

As described by the writers at Earmilk, “FTO is known for bringing positive and poetic lyrics that flow over jazz influenced hip hop beats that bring in a hint of soul. Their lyrical talent goes above and beyond of what is expected in rap music these days.”

In live performance form, FTO consists of C.Shreve the Professor and Mike L!VE on vocals, DJ Jet on the turntables, and a rotating selection of guest MCs & musicians. The jazz / hip hop mindset of free form improvisation and collaboration is a vital component to the FTO live experience, as songs and structure are often tossed aside in favor of the energy and groove of the moment.
