I'd like to introduce to you a very sweet & affectionate nine year old boy living in Fort Mill, SC, Braxton Reid. At 7 months of age, Brax was airlifted to Levin's Children's Hospital due to a prolonged uncontrollable seizure. Since then, his seizure activity increased. By the age of 5, he fought for his life after being on a ventilator 11 times. On any given day, he can have up to 50 seizures. While most are brief, many require heavy medication to stop the seizure and can result in extended intensive care hospitalization.
At the age of 16 months, Braxton was diagnosed with an intractable form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome. Unfortunately, this is a rare and catastrophic form of epilepsy for which there currently is no cure. Brax will not outgrow these seizures and no surgery can «fix» Dravet Syndrome.
The Dravet Syndrome Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to aggressively raising funds for research into Dravet Syndrome and related childhood epilepsies while helping afflicted individuals and their families.
Please join us for a Volleyball Tournament to raise funds for Dravet Syndrome. 100% of the proceeds will benefit Dravet Syndrome Foundation. Your support is crucial to the success of our fundraising. This is a wonderful opportunity to donate to a local cause and truly make a difference in the lives of these beautiful children.
